Inception

' She locked away a secret, deep inside herself, something she once knew to be true... but chose to forget. '
- Dominic Cobb

Of all the characters, I find Mal's character most intriguing. How she lost grasp of what is real and what is not... and how she died, not so much by committing suicide, but because of one single idea. An idea that grows to define a person... in this case, destroy her.

" What's the most resilient parasite? A virus? No, an idea. A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules. "

Paradox.

Ideas you entertain can either make or break you. Big time.

First Dark Knight, now this. Christopher Nolan is a genius.

So Sure, So Dear.

" The past is over and done. We all stumble on the way to maturity. We all look for love in the wrong arms, happiness in the wrong place. But out of it, you've become real. You've got a heart of immense compassion for the brokenness of others. You are utterly incapable of hypocrisy, and I'm deeply in love with you."

July 17th

Somehow, of all of the weddings I've attended, this was just different.

Maybe it was how we saw the relationship blossom from a very unlikely beginning,
thrive through many heartbreaks and misunderstanding, while we were silently cheering for them, the both of them.

One year ago, the then single bride told me,
"I love going to movies alone, I'm a loner. It's so troublesome to get a date where everyone is free. So why not just watch it alone right?"

She broke his heart and our hearts, when she 'rejected' his first proposal.

They didn't even talk to each other on the first 'date' we set them up and conveniently tagged along.

The endless tears and laughter that preceded this big day, made us feel like it was our big day as well, because they are so much a part of our lives, and how can it not be so?

I wrote them a simple poem in the lovely card Eunice made for them.

' Love seeketh not its own...." 1 Corinthians 13:5

As springs of joy,
burst forth amidst the noise;
Our hearts,
His throbbing love so pure unite.

To live, to fulfill,
A divine intent
so sure, so dear.
To become, to be,
together as one...

Heirs of God's marvelous Grace.

Ne Ne Ni Bu Bu

'Grown ups took the world for granted. They had let themselves be lulled in the enchanted sleep of their hundrum existence once and for all...'

Saturday was the day I woke up feeling crabby, not looking forward (at all!) to the entire day of working in college.

"Not my ideal way to spend a Saturday, but this is the day that You have made, and I'll rejoice, give thanks and anticipate all that You have installed! Cut the whine Regina."

It's amazing how a simple, little prayer could change the entire day. Wait, scratch that. It's amazing how just by praying, though nothing else has changed, I have..
as His river bears me further up and further in!

Of text messages,

Today.

Today, I was awaken by a text message.
Contemplating between waking up and sleeping in,
I remembered about the word I gave.

Stopped by my favorite dimsum place before class,
Fu Gua, Pie Guat, Yu Dan and Teh-C.
Made a lame joke during class presentation and the usually-almost-always languid crowd responded!
Hand-crafted some bookmarks during the remainder of the class.

Drove off with a couple of book lovers to Hartamas for Times' Warehouse Sale (Definitely not as good as MPH's or Peguin's ones)
Was stuck in my umbrella-less car during the downpour, until a friend came, got drenched and helped me out with an umbrella.
Shivering and talking while eating Pan Mee soup.

Indulged in Margaret Atwood's Negotiating with the Dead in the library.
Made a new friend and had a meaningful conversation.
Off to swimming with Eunice and had Tadoori Chicken & Naan after that.
Skyped with Davina. oh the wonders of skype!

By the way, today I learnt how much I appreciate chivalry.

Let's go fishing...

fishing for ideas.

Sheryl was sharing her adventure stories back when she was an air stewardess for SIA, how she traveled the world..did all the things she wanted to do as a young girl but not having the money to do. Just as we were all laughing and considering on becoming an air stewardess, she paused and a tinge of sadness came over her...

"I lived my dream because I wanted it so badly, but not at a price. Which sometimes I ask myself, was it worth the effort?"

When my lecturer asked me to tell what I am in one word,
I blurted out a dreamer.

and I am, I believe in so much more than this world offers... my imagination takes me to places when dullness & complacency creeps in...

yet when my dreams clashes with Thy will,
let me choose Yours instead of mine.

' How do you know you're living in the will and purpose of God? It is when you don't know how things have taken its course, and when you look back, you are the most surprised being on this earth.'

Today, I'm thankful for the many things of 'my dreams' that didn't work out, but Yours was freely accomplished.

I delight in Your ways.
