Ersatz

One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is just a statistic.
I read this as I glanced through the papers,
which I usually finish while standing.

Death happens all around us,
yet we never think it can happen to us...
Desensitize from others pain.

Once, my good friend stood up for something right,
and he was mocked and marred mercilessly.

What disgusted me most was not the crowd's reaction,
but by my insidious silence, steep in fear.

Moral cowardice unveiled,
memory etched and my own silence piercing within,

'Lord, give me the boldness and courage I never had, knowing I can receive nothing save it be given from You.'

What a week it's been.

People whom you love, and realize love you so much more by their simple, spontaneous act of thoughtfulness and kindness.
Taken unaware, the lovely surprises(with infinite mouthful of cakes), reminds me how amazing people can be.
Gifts are great, but I cherish the giver just as much. (or even more?)

Turning twenty-two was double the joy and blessings.

***

"Youth is not a period of time. It is a state of mind, a result of the will, a quality of the imagination, a victory of courage over timidity, of the taste for adventure over the love of comfort.

A man doesn’t grow old because he has lived a certain number of years. A man grows old when he deserts his ideal. the years may wrinkle his skin, but deserting his ideal wrinkles his soul. Preoccupations, fears, doubts, and despair are the enemies which slowly bow us towards earth and turn us to dust before death.

You will remain young as long as you are open to what is beautiful, good, and great; receptive to the messages of other men and women, of nature and God. If one day you should become bitter, pessimistic and gnawed by despair, may God has mercy on your old man’s soul.”

Sempiternal

Knowledge of speech, but not of silence;
Knowledge of words, and ignorance of the Word...
Where is the Life we have lost in living?
Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?

- T.S Eliot

If it's not even real to you,
how can it be real to someone else?

To save myself from the dreadful, awkward silence,
I've spoken hollow, empty words that meant nothing.

Acting impulsively, I've seen the far-reaching effects of an untimely word, a premature action or an over-riped feeling.
How can something so right, become something so wrong?

Seize the day, seize the night.
There's a time for everything,
a time to laugh, a time to cry,
you know how it goes...
It's now or never,
yet sometimes a period of waiting and stillness is required.

Life is one big paradox, don't you think?
but the power lies therein.

Yawning Abyss

Trying my level best to move around gracefully and more important, noiselessly as my new JB roommate sleeps on. Failed miserably the very next minute, as I pulled out Tolkien's Silmarillion, which made an awful loud thump, slipping through my butter fingers.

The room is coldd and I'm wearing my comfy headphones as earmuffs, without any music playing. I like silence. Total, complete silence, especially during the early morns and late nights. Disarray and bombardment can wait.

Was compelled to do a conventional 2010 look-back here, but my bed beckons and I shall deny it no further.

It wasn't a perpetual sunshine, it never is, but it was a year of perpetual wonder and amazement. The untrodden paths that was divinely ordered, the absolutely delightful souls as companions on the same journey, the learning to see things as they are, and not what I poorly deceive myself for them to be, the crummy mistakes and failures interwoven with adoring awe as He over-reaches the seemingly most hopeless situation, and turns them for good. His good.

He doeth all things well, indeed.
